The collar is a little larger than we commomly see and we are not sure if it is an attached or detachabnle collar. What is most identified with the 1850s is the blouse sleeves that billow out from the sleeves, often associted by shortened jackets sleeves that do not reach the wrist. Cut-asway jackets were popular at the time, either plain or with modest decoration like the embroidered piping here. Long pants were standard as were different fabrics for the jacket and pants. We are not sure about the spats. Most of the Dags and Ambros so you do not see the subject's feet. Thus we have no idea about how common spats were, especially for boys.
