All Scouts in the United Kingdom wore the samne uniform. Where Scottish Scouts had some destinctive uniform features and options, the uniform was basically the same as that worn by English Scouts. The Scout sure worn by Scottish Scouts has always been the same as that worn by the English scouts. The style and color of the shirt has changed over time. The uniform shirt in the 1950s and 60s was a khaki shirt worn with matching khaki short trousers or a kilt. The Scottish Scouts here in the 1990s wear green shirts which was adopted in 1967 and was still being worn in the 1990s (figure 1).
The image here may be flipped. A British reader writes, "Can I draw your attention to the image on this page as it is appears to be round the wrong way. If you look at the Patrol Leader's two white vertical stripes. These were always on the left breast pocket of the shirt and never on the right. Similarly, three boys have what looks to be like
Leaping Wolf badges and these are always on the right hand side of the shirt.
Another thing if you look at the badge on the beret, the badge is always worn above the left eye. "
A nother reader writes, "It would appear so.I was never so far up in the hierarchy to take much notice of such things ... other than the famous left hand handshake that I always managed to get wrong as well. Bonnets were no longer worn when I was in the Scouts and I don't recall 'Leaping Wolf Badges'."
