Here is an portrait of two unidentified brothers with long hair and dressed up in sailor suits. All we know about the boys is that the portrait was taken in 1895 at Kehlendort Germany. We are not sure just where that is in Germany. The boys look to us to be about 3 and 5 years old. Both boys have long hair. The younger boy has his hasir on one side done in large ringlet. Note the younger boy also has a curl done at his forehead. The boys are also dressed in similar, but different color sailor suits. While their sailor suits are different their caps look identical. Nore their sailor scarves. This seems to be a rather rather image.
A German reader writes, "The youngr boy in the image here does seem to lave a long ringlet. I have neve seen a German portrait quite like that. The image quality is quite poor. Are you sure this is a German photograph. The location info might be wrong. If this is of German origin mother maybe had
American relatives and was inspired by them. As I say that would be the first German ringlets I see and I saw a lot so far. If yes, it must be very rare!"
It is alsi one of the few such German images that we have seen with a boy wearing a tightly curled ringlet. But it is definnintely a German portait. The portrait was taken in W. Küpler's Atelier Germania. Unfortunately we do not have a noce clear scan of the portrait.
