Hans-J: Garments--Traininganzüge

Figure 1.-- Younger boys wore Traininganzüge for play outside in the cold Winter weather. In America they were called a snowsuit. Under a Traininganzüge we always wore long stockings. They really covered us up--including our heads. Even on cold days in the snow as seen here I was warm. I think I am on my way to Kindergarten here because I have my little leather satchel in which I carried my lunch.

Younger boys wore Traininganzüge for play outside in the cold Winter weather. In America they were called a snowsuit. Under a Traininganzug, we always wore long stockings. They really covered us up. They did not hve hoods, however, like some snow suits. They consisted of long pants with elasticized waists and leg closings and a blouse wgich had an elasticized waist and buttoned at the neck like a shirt with a collar. Even on cold days in the snow as seen here I was warm. The cap I wore with my Traininganzüge had a little point in the middle of the forehead. A lot of children had the same style of cap. They were really warm, especially when worn with Winter undewear and long stockings. Trainingsanzüge were mostly worn for sports by children, teens and even adults. But also as informal clothing outside during the Winter as seen here (figure 1). I think I am on my way to Kindergarten here because I have my little leather satchel in which I carried my lunch. I began Kindergarten when I turned 4 in 1939.
