We see a wide variety of portaits in the 1900s decade. Until the turn-of-the cenury, almost all photographic prtraits were cabinet cards. Not only are there many different kinds of cabinet cards, but new formats including sudio portraits done without carboard backing used for cabinet card and postcard-back photographs. Studio customers had a wide range of options when ordering a photographic portrait. We are not sure how effcive this was. But we see large numbes of these new style cards. We continue to see cabinet cards, both the old style cards and a range of new style mounts of varying sizes and shapes. We have found counless examples, but unfounaly many are not dated. After the turn-of-the-20th century, the classic style mounts were still made especially in the first half of the decade. The classic style mouns do not disappear after mid-decade, but thet become much less common, particularly by the 1910s. At the same time, we see all kinds of new style mounts. We see more variety in both shapes as well as the size of the cards. The mounts often has a kind of frame affect. We notice both small and larger sizes. The sizes were quite varied.
