Knock, Kruse, and Smit Children (January 1912)

American boy tunic popularity

Figure 1.--Here we see the incription on a family cabinet card portrait in 1912. It is dated Janury 2, 1912 and includes cousins as well as siblings. The families are Knock, Kruse, and Smit, all German sounding names. Note all the boys are wearing tunic suits, a very popular fashion at the time. The child at right we believe is a boy. The names are written at the bottom of the card, but are difficult to read. We have figured out some of them. Click on the image to see the entire cabinet card and photographic image.

I noticed a small squiggle just above Lillian. Have a look and see if you can decipher the first name of the last Krause. It seeme to be the same name as the child in the second line ????? Knock Jr. Intriguing." The names he came up with are: Edward Knock - Conrad, Margaret, Lillian and ????Krause, ?????? Knock Jr. Lois Smit. Note the use of Smit instead of Smith. Let us know if you can add anything to the identified names.
