Japanese Individual Private Schools: Toin Gakuen--Leadership Skills


Figure 1.--Here is a class at the Toin Gauken Elementary School engaging in some of the leadership building activities described here. The school was only fully coed about 2018, but classroom activities like this went on for some time earlier.

The Toin Gauken Elementary School gives considerable attention to leadership skills. This is what the school explains about ythis effort. "Learn leadership and communication skills through various activities Toin Gakuen Elementary School." In Toin Gakuen Elementary School, in the upper grades, to gain independence and self-control, everyone has a responsible role through comprehensive learning time, clubs, and committee activities. The children's association thinks about how to manage a better school life, and the discipline committee shows the importance of etiquette in the morning greeting campaign. While the volunteer committee is doing various activities such as cleaning activities at nearby stations and the maintenance committee checking cleaning tools and equipment, not only pulling the meeting as the top, but also gathering friends and other people You will learn that cuddling is also an important quality of a leader. Career education is also provided for sixth graders to find out what occupations are in the world. In addition, I think about what kind of adult I want to be, what I need to do now, and ponder what I can contribute to in the future.
