Special Serbian School Activities: Movie Making

Figure 1.-- A British teacher in Belgrade tells us about a class project. The children are reading a Famous Five book. And the class is making a movie, ' Five and Us'. The children are quite enthusiastic about it. This is not of course a standard Serbian school actibity, but rather an idea conceived by a creative teacher. Modern technology such as video cameras and computers give modern teachers the ability to develop all kinds of interesting activities. Here is a scene from the class movie.

It was a digital camera that can switch from still to cine work. Not complicated at all and neither was the editing suit!" Any many of these activities involve the use of language--a wonderful way of developing languiage skills. The children are caught up in the project and are not even aware that they are developing language skills at the same time.
