We note a variety hair bowsern by American girls. We note yarn ties, ribbons, and wide fabrictied into huge foppy bows. It was the floppy bows popuar in the 1910s that had the greatest impact. Some were unbelievably huge. Girls engaged in a virtual arms race to see who among them could have the largest bows. And they were very prevalent. Yarn ties and ribbon were not as concentrated in one decade, but were also common. Collar bows were much less common, especially for girls. We do see boys wearing large collar bows during the Fauntleroy Craze. Hair bows were primarily worn by girls, but in the 19th century we see very young boys with hiar bows, here ribbon bows were the most common.
