English Boy Scout Uniforms: Activities (The 1910s)


Figure 1.--Here we see the St Marys [Lowgate] Hull Tug of War Team 1911. This would be a Scout troop organized by a Catholic Church.

Wec note English Scouts in the 1910s involved in a wide range of activities. Many available images show outdoor activities like hiking and camping. The first real Scout activity was Baden Powell's camp at Brown Sea Island and camping continued to be particularly important toi early Scouts. We note many activities at camp in which the boys are engaged. There are also activities at Scout meetings like the Scouts engsaged in tug-ofg-war here in 1911 (figure 1).
