French Boy Choir Costumes: Unknown Choir

Figure 1.--HBC is not yet sure which French choir this photograph senr by a HBC reader is. There is no logo on their shirts so it is difficult to identify them. We have since learned that it is a German choir.

HBC readers have submitted some choir images withot knowing the name or in some instances the country involved. The choir pictured here was one example of this. We thought at first it was a French choir. One nioce aspect of internet publishing is that our readers with help with insights. And we have since learned that it was a German choir.

Unidentified French Choir

A HBC reader has forwarded us this photograph of what he believed was a French choir taken in 1972. He says it was a Petit Chanteurs, but I am not sure which one. There were quite a few different iones. The boys wear long-sleeved white shirts, dark blue ties, dark blue short pants, white socks, and black shoes. A few boys wear abkle sicks or perhaps knee socks that had fallen down. Chi\pirs often have, however, uniform checks in which boys check their knee socks to make sure that they are pulled up. A French choir might wear a uniform like this, but the ties were not common in France. There is no logo on their shirts so it is difficult to identify them.

German Choir

HBC has since learned that this is not a French choir, but actually a German choir--the Kanabenchor. We have some limited information on the choir. The Knabenchor Marianum Fulda is a Catholic German choir. It was founded in 1966 and is associated with a Mariaist school.
