Figure 1.--We note various groups sponsoring boys' bands in the early-20th century as well as commercial bands. This was Roney's Boys Concert Band baded in Chicagp. One source reports that Roney began training boy singers in 1888 and from his Chicago conducts various touring concert groups around the country. The post card here dates to 1908 (gigure ). The Director was Henry B. Roney. The boys sang and povide musical accompanyment. They had several different programs with costimes like the Highland garb to go along with them including classical, patriotic, western, and winter (holiday) performances .

We note various groups sponsoring boys' bands in the early-20th century as well as commercial bands. This was Roney's Boys Concert Band based in Chicago. Advertising for the band read, "The time has passed when it is longer necessary to enlarge upon this standard attraction. Nearly everybody has heard of 'Roney's Boys," who have sung in forty states from ocean ton ocean, and Manitoba to the Gulf; and also throughout Canada. One report claims that Roney began training boy singers in 1888 and from his Chicago conducts various touring concert groups around the country. The post card here dates to 1908 (figure ). The Director was Henry B. Roney. He is described as, "Concert organist and originator, trainer, and manager of 'Roney's Boys' needs no introduction. As Vic-President for Illinois of the Music Teachers' National Association, Choirmaster of the Chicago Diocesan Choir association (Thirty-two choirs and twelve hundred vested choristers), and as trainer of of a large number of of the most noted boy singers of the period, he has established a standard of merit which has become so proverbial, as ton inspire public confidence in what ever talent he introduces." Promotional material contain all sorts of glowing reviews from newspapers all over the country. The boys sang and provide musical accompaniment.
