Swedish Parks: Facilities


Figure 1-- It was most popular on nice warm sunny days, but we even see children bundled up for chilly weather playing in the sand lot. Here we see Stockholm children in 1930 playing by the sand lot. Notice the children wearing their mittens. I'm not sure what park this was.

Swedish parks had the same facilities as other parks in Europe and could be enjoyed year round. We note groups of children dancing and playing games on the grass in warm sunny weather. Many parks had ponds where boys in Spring sand Summer could sail their boats and were useful in Winter for skating. One of the popular places for younger children were sand boxes. This was a favorites for both boys and girls. It was most popular on nice warm sunny days, but we even see children bundled up for chilly weather playing in the sand lot. Here we see Stockholm children in 1930 playing by the sand lot. Notice the children wearing their mittens.
