English First Communion Church Ceremony: 1952

Figure 1.-- We notice a rather formal event in 1952. The children were 7 years old, but there is no indication as to where the event took place other than it looks to be the front of a church. The girls wear the traditional long junior wedding dresses. Lengths varyh slightly, but most are quite long. The girls all have flowered head bands. The boys' outfits are a little more difficult to make out. The look to be wearing white short pants suit, but with unusual long jackets. They also wear white ankle socksd and white shoes. Perhaps it is some kind of tunic outfit. The girls and some of the boys have white gloves. There seem to be mor girls partiipasting than biys, bit we may not be seeing all the children in the group. The outfits look rather expensive. This looks to be quite an affluent congregation.

We notice a rather formal event in 1952. The children were 7 years old, but there is no indication as to where the event took place other than it looks to be the front of a church. It seems a rather orfinary brick church. The girls wear the traditional long junior wedding dresses. Lengths vary slightly, but most are quite long. The girls all have flowered head bands. We have not notice anything qwuite like it before. The boys also wear white ankle socks and white shoes. The girls and some of the boys have white gloves. In many congregations, not all the children, especially the boys, have the formal white outfits.
