French First Communion Suits: Late 20th Century (1970-2000)

Figure 1.--We do not have much information on French First Communion suits in the late 20th century. One 1970 photograph shows boys wearing cassocks and dark long pants suits. I believe sailor suits were also worn. We do not note the fancy sleeve ribbons. Notice that the boys and girl in the back are wearing white albs. This photograph was taken in a small village Notice also the children crossing their arms. This means that they still have not done thier first Communion. Priests since the 1960s have suggested more simple costumes rather than the fancy outfits that many children wore. Many suggested the white alb for everybody. Some of the girls' junior wedding dresses were very expensive.
