Our Spanish archive is still very limited. Thus we are not sure about the different outfitts Spanish boys wore for First Communion. We jabe behun to ascquire a few images. We do note boys weraring sailor suits in the 1960s. Long pants white sailor suits semm popular. We also see short pants suits.
Here we see another example of a 1960s sailor suit (figure 1). This portrait shows an unidentified Spanish boy in his white sailor suit First Communion suit during 1960. It is a tradtionally styled sailor suit with long pants. This would bea suit vspcifically for Forst Communion and not worn for many other occassions.
Here we have a group of boys posed in front of a very impressive church where they are doing their First Communion. The portrait is undated, but it looks to us like the 1960s. Some of the boys related. They mmostly wear different-styled suits. The only similarity is the shot pantsandwhite socks. We do not know if that is mere chance or if the Church gave parents instructions. Thgese are suits that the boys would have used for al formal occsassions and noy just foir First Communion.
We see a First Communion service in Spain during 1969 on the previous page. The boys all wear the same long pants sailor suit outfits. These would be suits bought just for First Communiom. They would not have been used much afterwards. We are not sure if this was a school group or just a group organized by the local church. We are unsure just how popular sailor suits wre for First Communion, but we notice other Spanish boys wearing sailor suits in the 60s.
