Also inerestung is his longish hair cut hair cut. Remenber he is a Prussian boy. We are used to seeing Prussian school boys with closed crop hair. We are not sure if this became prominent later in the century or was less common for upper-class boys. Felix like his brothers was interested in paiinting from an early age and incouraged by his father. He studied for some time in his father's studio. He studied under Julius Hübner (1838-39) andc then in Dresden unfer Eduard Bendemann (1840-43). Like his brother, who painted this portrait, his work took on a religuous bent. We note a painting of nobel family in a ruin during the Reformztion era. We are not sure what to make of it and do not know the back story, but suspect it was Catholic attacks on Protestants--'Family in burning ruins'. Nite that some of the few possessions saved was the family Bible. A lot of his work was frescos. After his father died (1850), he ow decorated the walls of his former studio with a cycle of frescoes depicting his father's life. He married Eugenie D'Alton-Rauch (1852). They had dsix chilfren. He died at a reltively young age (1861).
