Ervin Emile Blanchenburg (United States, 1905-10)

Figure 1.--This portrait is undated, but was probably taken about 1905-10. The boy is Ervin Emile Blanchenburg. He wears a white lawn sailor tunic and has long ringlet curls. These tunic suits were very popular at the time, although ringlets for boys were beginning to become less common. He looks to be about 6-7 years old. Yhe studio was Terikelson & Henry, San Francisco.

A reader writes, "This is a lovely picture. Ervin seems to be a very happy boy. His love of life shines through even after about a 100 years. I think this image shows the way studio photographs were changing from formal serious images to smiling happier looking photographs."
