Figure 1.-- This CDV portrait shows an American boy who looks about 5 yeats old. The name id Frank Clifton, but we are not sure if that is the boy's name or his father's name. The studio is not identified. Frank has a fancy curl worked into his hair. He wears a cut-away jacket. The pants look somewhat like like knee pants, but may be long pants the boy has rather outgrown. The photographer has tinted the CDV with pink coloring to give an effect of color on his bow.

Frank Clifton (United States, 1860s)

This CDV portrait shows an American boy who looks about 5 yeats old. He seems to be wearing striped socks which suggests the 70s more than the 60s. The photographer has tinted the CDV with pink coloring to give an effect of color on his bow. We do not think the boy's bow was pink, but rather the pink was used to create rosy cheeks and the colorist added ut elswhere as well. Apparetly the customer (probanly mother) did not object. The CDV is undated. We would guess it was taken in the 1860s, although the ealy 70s is possible as well.
