This one sixth plate daguerreotype portrait is unidentified and undated. The boy looks about 5 years old. We would guess it was taken about 1850. The boy wears a plaid tunic suit with a small white collar. We see a lot of these tunics before the Civil War. He wears the tunic with white long pants. Notice that it is not a tunic suit because the tunic and pants do not mstch. He has a very destinctive wide belt and buckle. It was housed in a full case with a floral design. He has a parted hair cut, somewhat shorter than we see on many boys at the time. The background was plain. Theere was a table with a clothing covering that had a floral design. A very common set up in dags.
