Charles and Anne Hatch (England, about 1925)

Figure 1.-- Here we have a formal studio portrait of a brother and sister, Charles and Anne Hatch. They look o be about 13-16 years of age. It is a post-card back portrait. The card stock is the KLtd brand which appeared 1918-36, but the clothes suggest to us that it was taken during the mid pahase of that range, probably about 1925. The high-cut shoes here are a factor. We would say that they came from a well-to do family. They could be wearing school clothes, perhaps just such garmnts. Charles wears a sungle breasted vested wuit with short pants. The Eton collar was going out of style for boys, but still worn at some schools. Note the boys's Eton here does not have pointed tips. He is wearing school socks. The girl wears a plain dark dress with long stockings. They were not longer very common by 1930, but still worn some conservative schools. The studio was Seaman in Southport.
