Figure 1.-- James Ruffato here wears a dark knickers suit, which was a popular choice at the time. He wears black long stockings abd hight-top shoes with his suit. His flat cap does not match the suit.

James Ruffato (United States, 1922)

We believe this is aportrait of Jim or James Ruffato. It was taken by the Wilson Studio in Lead, South Dakota. The back of the post card is enscribed, My brother Jim 11 years confirmed 1922 - Lead South Dakota" We think that Jim's last name was Rafutto because the address section read, "To Rose Gilson from James Ruffato". We are not sure what Church James attended, but we are guessing it was a Catholic Church. We are not sure abouth etnicity, perhaps Portuguese. The AZO stamp box with two arrows up and two arrows down helps to confirm our post card stamp box dating assessment. James wears a dark knickers suit, which was a popular choice at the time. Notice the white tie. That suggests some kind of First Communuin outfit. He also has a pin on his lapel, but we can not make it out. The only special recognition of the occassion is a sleeve bow which suggests a First Communion outfit. And there something hanging from his jacket pocket, a kind of award. He wears black long stockings abd hight-top shoes with his suit. His rather large flat cap does not match the suit.
