Bangladesh Boys Activities: Pets and Animals


Figure 1.--These rural children are playing with the family water buffaloes in Bangladesh. The photograph was taken about 2005. Bangladesh is a low-lying country. There are large expanes of land which flood durng the annual monsoon season.

The Bengal economy is still largely agricultural. And thus farm animals are important in the lives of children. Affording pets is aporoblem, but the children do get involved with farm animals. Many farmers have mild mannered water bufalos which children can play with in the water (figure 1). Bangladesh is a low-lying country. There are large expanes of land which flood durng the annual monsoon season.
