We are just going on his looks and the fact that the skirt is done in a plaid-like material. We do know that it was taken at a studio in Kjobenhavn so we know he was Danish. He wears a skirt with a blouse or sweater and a lace collar. The skirt is a kind of plaid design, perhaps to make it look like a kilt. The boy looks to be about 6 years old.

The boy looks to be about 6 years old. He wears a skirt with a back-buttoning blouse or sweater and a lace collar. The lace pointed collar appears to pin on sweater or blouse below sweater. We are unsure about his blouse or sweater. It is much plainer than American images that we have noted with boys wearing skirts. They often wore fancy blouses. One reader comments, "The knit sweater is dark and rather plain looking with long knit cuffs about the wrists." The skirt is a kind of plaid design, perhaps to make it look like a kilt. The skirt appears to have a belt with belt loops to keep it on. Beneath the skirt he is wearing what appears to be a white slip very plain hem. They may be panralettes, but look more like a petticoat or slip. He appears to be wearing woolen stockings and surprisingly modern looking shoes with a defined heel. He also appears to have a short hair, but it is not cut in bangs or carefully combed as is common kin such photographs.
