Each Church of England (COE) church had a group of boys serving as altar boys. This required a considerable effot on the part of the boys. They had to train and then spend time at the church to help the priest offiiating for the different services. Normally the Church would plan various activities as a way of thanking the boys for their effort. We note the altars boys from St. Mary Magdalen Church in 1928 on a picnic and swimming party. Outings like this were very common. Note the old-style swim suits still being used in the 1920s.
