George and Adelaide Haigh are pictured here with their sons Cator, Hedley, and Claude photographed in 1867 by photographer T.K. Wardle of Grimsby. The portrait was presumably taken on the grounds of Grainsby Hall. This is the family patriarch George with his wife which must be Adelaide. As explained earlier, her proper name was Emma Jane. They are pictured with the the two oldes boys, Cator and Hedley along with a baby brother--Claude. I'm not sure why these three were chosen for the picture. The boys were all still wearing dresses, in this case matching plaid dresses. Cator would have been about 6 years old and Hedley about 4 years old. The oldest boy Cator, however, was breached the next year in 1868. Note that the boys wear their dresses with white bloomer knickers. I can't say I recall girls wearing dresses with such knickers. Girls did wear pantalettes, but they were no generally bloused like that and worn with the same combination of long stockings. Also note the boys' long hair.
