Figure 1.--Pisti is seen here in 1895. The portrait was taken in Linz, an Austrian town located on the Danube. Pisti was about 4 years old and wears a destinctive kneepants suit. Note the sailor influence in the "V" collar and back flap. Instead of the traditional strip detailing, there is an embroidered design. Also note how high up the leg the three-button detailing on the kneepants comes. Also notice the Peter Pan collar and small bow. Image courtesy of the MD collection. |
Pisti was the older brother. He was born about 1891. A 1895 portrait shows Pisti in 1895 wears a destinctive kneepants suit. He was about 4 years old and wears a destinctive kneepants suit. Note the sailor influence in the "V" collar and back flap worn over a doubble-breasted jacket. Instead of the traditional strip detailing, there is an embroidered design. This may be an Hungarian influence, since the family lived in Budapest, as I have not seen his style before. It is worn with a large Peter Pan collar and small bow. The bow looks to be a pastel color rather than white, but I am not sure about the color. Also note how high up the leg the three-button detailing on the kneepants comes. Usually the buttons are much closer to the hem. He wears long stockings and high-topped shoes. Pisti at age 4 has quite a close-cropped hair cut. He attended military school, entering at
about age 12. Aftr that he seems to have mostly worn his cadet uniform--even when on vacation with the rest of the family. He
appears to have become an officer in the Imperial Army. We wonder what happened to him in World War I.
Pisti was the older brother. He was born about 1891. We know nothing more about him.
The available images show us wht Pisti wore as a younger boy. At about age 12 he entered military school, after which we only see him in his cadet uniform. Interestingly, he seems to have worn his cadet uniform even on family vacations.
We do not have any photographs of Pisti wearing dresses, but we believe that like his brothers that he wore dresses as a little boy. He was probably breached when he turned 4 years old.

We note that the kneepants worn by his brothers also had this destinctive arrangement. We are not sure if this was a Hungarian or Austrian style or just a peculiarity of the clothes made for these boys. He wears long stockings and high-topped shoes.
Pisti at age 4 has quite a close-cropped hair cut. This was even as a younger boy before entering military school. Portraits of his brothers wearing dresses suggest they boys even had short cuts before breaching.
Pisti attended a military school, entering at about age 12. After that he seems to have mostly worn his cadet uniform--even when on vacation with the rest of the family. We are not sure if Pisti insisted on this because he was proud to be a cadet or if the school required the boys to wear their uniform even when not at school.
Pisti appears to have become an officer in the Imperial Army. We wonder what happened to him in World War I which began in 1914.
