Another metod of keeping a younger boy's short pants up, beside suspender shorts, was button-on shorts. This was also a popular style in other countries, especially during the 1930s-40s, including the United States. I'm not sure what age Dutch boy wore these shirts. The available image shows a boy about 5-years old, but HBC believes that older boys
also wore them. The buttons could be quite large--becoming an element of the styling. This depended somewhat on the age of the boy wearing them. HBC has limited information on button-shorts in the Netherlands, but is collecting information.
