Argentine Home Activities

Figure 1.--Here we see aa Argentine birthday party, we think in the 1930s. We see both boys and girls with party hats. We are not sure who the birthday child is, but suspect it is the boy in ehe wjite hat front and center. The family is not identified.

Activities at home are a primary area of assessing what children are uo to as they spend so much time at home. This is of course especially the case of younger children. The photographic record does not help us much here in the 19th century, but by the 20th century there is a wealth of photographic images to throw light on the home and home life. This inclues a range of different topics. They include family celebrations, family life, games, gardening, holidays, school homework, parties, play, school homework, toys, and much more. This is a topic we have just begun to work on, but hope to expand. We do not yet have much information on Argentine holidays. Families liked to photograph celebrations and parties. As regards children, birthday parties are particularly important. Here we see an Argentine birthdy party, we think in the 1930s (figure 1). We have noted some photographs showing the toys boys played with. Wwe see a prize toy on the previous page.
