Chilean Family: Munizaga Family (1920)

Figure 1.-- Here we see the Munizaga family in 1920. They were living in Washington, D.C. where the father was a councelor at the Chilean Embassy. The press caption read, "... Counselor of the Chilean Embassy, Seņor Don Gustavo Munizaga Varela. ... Liza, age fourteen, Mary age eight, Leopoldo ... 2 month." [The caption is only partially intact.] Liza with the baby wears an overcoat. Mary wears a dress with velvt and stripe detailing. Leopold looks to be about 10 years old. He wears a Norfolk knickers suit with long stockings.

Family information is quite useful. It provides both valuable sociolgical information as well insights as what adult and girls' fashions were associated with the various boys' fashions discussed in HBC. We have only begun to acquire information on Chilean families and thus have very little material at this time. We have found much less information on Latin American than on Europe.
