Traditional Kuwati Boys' Clothes: The Dishdash



Figure 1.--The dishdash is worn by men and boys. It is not a child costume but a smaller version of adult men's wear. It fits over the head and covers the whole body. It is a one piece garment. It is a dress . It comes in a variety of colours, white, khaki, sky blue, navy blue and grey.

It comes in a variety of colours, white, khaki, sky blue, navy blue and grey. In winter time sheep skin coats can be worn to keep one warm. The sheep skin jacket the boy is wearing came from Pakistan. One boy wears a black ornate outer cloak. Head dress can be white or a red check pattern. It fits over a skull cap and is held in place by a round leather ring as can be seen in the picture. Shoes are often modern trainers, leather shoes and as well as the more traditional sandal.
