This cabinet card portrait shows an unidentified, but clearly prosperous Iowa family. It is a large, 8 x 10 inch casrd, often used for out of the studio family portraits. We believe it is a farm family, but it could be a family on the outskirts of a small town, presumably Humeston, Iowa. Humeston is a small town in southern Iowa near the Missouri border. We have no informastion about the town, but such a small town, but have been primarily oriented toward the farm economy. A place for farmers to comr into town for supplies. We see a large extended family, but only one child and a baby. The boy wears a summer Little Lord Fauntleroy suit. He looks to be about 6 years old. The portrait is of interest because it shows that the Fauntleroy Craze was not just a style worn by boys in fashionable big cities.
