Missouri Family (mid-1890s)


Figure 1.-- Here we have an undated cabinet card of an unknown family. We see mother and father and their four children who look to be about 5-18 years old. Two are obviously girls and a third is obviously a boy. Notice his large floppy bow. The youngerst child certainlu looks like a boy, but wears a long dress with some of the same material used for his sister's dress. While the portrait is undated, this one is fairly easy to date.

Two are obviously girls and a third is obviously a boy. Notice his large floppy bow. The youngerst child certainlu looks like a boy, but wears a long dress with some of the same material used for his sister's dress. While the portrait is undated, this one is fairly easy to date. The serratd edges and smooth corners of the mount mean it was taken about 1888-96, but the baloon slevees of the dresses. This was a popular style in the 1890s. degree of balloming vating a bit from year to yaer. Here we would guess the mid-90s, The stusio was Chas. German in Hermann, Missouri.
