The farm family is unidentitified. The mount and clothing, however, suggest it was taken in the early 1900s. We do not know where it was taken. We are not sure how to interpret the background. The photographer did not put the home in the background. There were two boys, four girls and a baby. The younger boy wears a Fauntleroy blouse but without a floppy bow. The older boy wears a suit jacket with a large ruffled collar abd a small bow. The girls all wear dresses. This portrait would have been taken by an itinerant photographer. Of course with the advent of the Kodak Brownie (1900), a family snapshot is possible, but in this we believe it may have been an itinerant photographer. Note that we do not see overalls in these rural images even outside the studio. Of course presumably everyone dressed up for the photograph as woud have been the case for a studion portrait. .
