Evert Patric

Figure 3.--This is a picture of my grandfather and his sister. The picture would have been taken during the 1897-98 timeframe. This is the father of Babe, Lois, and Bud in the other pictures on this page. My grandfather’s name was Evert Patric and his sister’s name was Leah.

Evert looks to have been born about 1890. `This is a picture of my grandfather and his sister. The picture would have been taken during the 1897-98 time frame. Evert weaks a double-breasted kneepants suit. It looks to be a collar buttoning suit. I think he is wearing a ruffled coolar rather than a lace collar, although it is difficult to tell in the photograph. He aldso has a plaid flippy bow. He wears his kneepants with black lonng stockings as was common at the time. His sister wars a colored smock-frock, although we do not know the color. Notice the baloon upper sleeves and the narrow black lower sleeves. Evert is the father of Babe, Lois, and Bud in the other pictures on this page. My grandfather’s name was Evert Patric and his sister’s name was Leah. Evert Patric grew up and became an engineer on the C&O Railroad out of Peru, Indiana. He married my grandmother in 1911. They lived in Peru, Indiana for several years as well as Cincinnati, Ohio. My dad was born in Peru. He grew up in a railroading family and he and my Uncle Bud used to go down to the train yard in Peru after school when they were kids to meet their dad or one of their uncles (who also worked for the C&O). My dad joined the Coast Guard during World War II. After serving his time he was honorably discharged and attended Pharmacy School at USC on the GI Bill. He practiced Pharmacy in varying capacities for the remainder of his life. He died in 1985.
