Demographics

American families
Figure 1.--Demographics of all the topics we have addressed is today surely the most poorly understood--especially population demographics. Today most Americans, Europeans, and other people around the world have bought into the idea that the world faces a nightmarish future of overpopulation ans Easter Island like collapse because of the exhaustion of resources. Nothing could be further from the truth. Here about 1940 we see all ther grandchilden this American cople has,. Today less than acentury later, very few American grandpartents can claim this number of grandchildren. This is the Townsend Swayne family in Somers Point, New Jersey.

Demographics of all the topics we have addressed is today surely the most poorly understood--especially population demographics. Today most Americans, Europeans, and other people around the world have bought into the idea that the world faces a nightmarish future of overpopulation ans Easter Island like collapse because of the exhaustion of resources. Nothing could be further from the truth. The world is in fact has begun a period of depopulation which will be difficult to reverse. The most prominent example of this is China which engineered an acceleration of this process with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in its infinite wisdom adopted a draconian One Child Policy (1979). It very effectively reduced the Chinese birth rate. We now see Chinese primary schools with collapsing enrollments. And now China is in the process of going over a seemingly irreversible population cliff. The CCP finds with its worker-starved industries that it is much more difficult to convince Chinese women to have babies despite its powerful tools of mass persuasion. But the same process is happening all over the world. It most apparent in developed countries such as those in Europe. Even countries like Italy, once notable for large families, has experience a massive falloff in births. The same is true of prosperous Asian stats like Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan. But while not as advanced as Europe and prosperous Asia, the same trends are appearing in all of Asia, Latin, America, and Oceania at varying speeds. There are only two notable exceptions: Sub-Saharan Africa and the United States. An even in Sub-Saharan Africa there are indications that this process is beginning to play out. The other exception is the Unites States. Here the reason for the exception is obvious. Its powerful economy has drawn immigrants from all over the world, anxious to share in the American dream. When President Biden opened the southern border (2021), he unconsciously demonstrated how powerful the lure of American opportunity is. Ironically at the same time, President Biden and his Obama-linked appointees were promoting the narrative of an evil, oppressive nation in need of fundamental Marxist reforms. As Vice President Harris put it repeatedly --the 'burdens of the past'. The reason for population decline is fairly obvious. Children in modern society are expensive and require enormous energy to raise, basically requiring two parent families. And while growing wealth could solve the expense factor, expanding education works against it--at least modern education. There is a linear relationship between education and children. Educated women for the most part do not want large numbers of children. And in addition, the Feminist Movement has taken an anti-male turn, moving beyond rights for women. Modern feminists define male behavior as toxic and lecture young women that they are misguided and backward to put family over careers. While men are often criticized for putting careers over family.
