Photo Essays: Free Time--Uniforms and Clothes

School rules about the uniform or clothes worn during free time varied. There were many different approaches. Some schools insisted the children wear their uniforms all the time, even during free time. Some had some flexibility such as allowing the boys to take off their ties, Some schools had jumpsuits to ensure that the children did not mess up their uniforms when playing. Other schools allowed the children to change out of their uniforms after classes in the afternoon. There were many variations on gthis. At some schools the children were only allowed to change after afternoon prep and dinner. Weekend uniform rules varied widely from school to school. Quite a few schools allowed the children to change out of their uniforms after morning classes on Saturday and they were allowed to wear their own clothes during the weekend, except of course Church on Sunday. Some schools had rules about what could be worn. This varied from school to school. One hedmaster had an aversion to Star Wars T-shirts. Some schools did not allow jeans.

At some schools the children were only allowed to change after afternoon prep and dinner. Some schools only allowed the children to change out of their uniorms on the weekends.
