John, who takes up his well earned scholarship to Eastbourne, we shall remember as our faultlessly diligent House Captain for the Spring and Summer terms. He set a shining example in scoring astonishing numbers of plus points for us and in his studious approach to all things, including Technology, where his design for flashing LEDs was clearly neater than mine and was copied by others. He had, of course, dome most of the jobs one can do, all of them well, and he has grappled with the thankless task of trying to keep the Prefect's Hut in order! I especially like his latest ambition: "What God wants me to do;" what more cam we ask and pray?
Jacob has been a Momitor and a multi-talented person, but at the same time the despair of staff and parentssince he seems at times to be determined to let his many talents rust. However, we mustn't take thge gilt of his final triumph, with excellent CE marks for Monkton Coombe and a music scholarship (certinly deserved if his playing at the leavers' concert is anything to go by). In addition to his music, he has been a Chapel Reader, a promising actor (though I feel he could have fulfilled his promise more) and has played in School and House teams in all major team sports. We will miss that sheepish, apologetic grin!
Christopher was an oustanding Mathematician who was also good at most other subjects, especially Science and Computing. He has enjoyed many other aspects of life at School including the Ski-trip and the Carnoch expedition. He enjoyed Q Day, the Assault Course, Conservation and being out in the woods. He acted in a Latin play, and won a Merit Certificate for his holiday project on 'Welsh Slate'. He wa also good at music and reached Grade 4 piano, Grade 3 flute and Grade4 Music Theory. He won a scholarship to Brighton College.
Pride of place must be given to Jaon, who was awarded the Grocer's Scholarship at Oundle School at the beginning pf this term . Jason shared the top scholarship last year with two other boys as the result of the Scholarship Exam. )Jason had previously won a Continuation Scholarship at the age of 11). The Heads of Department decided unanimously that Jason over his first year had shown himself to be the outstanding scholar of the year, and the new HeadmasterMr David McMurray, announced the award before the whole school at Assembly. The Grocers' Scholarship is the top award and is worth £4,000 a year. Jason also won the School Debating Prize (a product of the Bramcote Debating Society!) and took on for a full ten minutes a small group of miners invited to Ounfle to state their case. There's no doubt tht he has quickly made his mark at Oundle!
