Individual Children: Sportsman

Figure 1.--

Steven

Steven was a splendid House Captain, being a good sportsman in bith senses of the term. He showed prowess in all major sports, and remarkable patience when he was injured in the second half of the summer term and had to look on rather than taking part. He has never found academic work easy but has always tried very hard. He goes to Gordon Boys School with our best wishes. I am sure he will prove his worth there.

Nicola

Nicola is an outstanding sportswoman and her House has certainly benefited down the tears from her ability. She has played for every possible girls team and some of them for two years as a Senior. It is just a pity that the effects of all this achievement was somewhat spoilt by unsatisfactory behavior. The good news however was that she regained her Monitorship and ended her career at School in good style.

Garrick

There is no doubt that moving Garrick up front to lead the attack proved to be the turning pont of the season. As can be seen from the results, he scored 15 goals in the last six matches, five of which were won and one lost, resulting in seven wins and four losses overall. He suffered a very nasty leg injury in the very first game of term, missed the first two matches and then played the next three in the centre of the defense. His strength, speed and eye for a half-chance ubsettled many defenses.

Andrew

Andrew would have been a good player in any year. To achieve his bowling figures without any support at the other end and with a below-verage fielding side was quike remarkable . In eleven matches he took 36 wickets for 359 runs, an average of less than 10. He flighted the ball well and towards the end of the season he was turning his off-spinners enough to disconcert most batsmen. Andrew also scored the only fifty by a 1st XI batsman in a school match.
