British Preparatory Schools Photo Essays: Activities--Aquarium

Figure 1.--.

A number of schools had interesting, well maintained aquariums. This was not normally a club activity. Often it was the work of a master who has pursued tropical fsh as a hobby. He or she is normally assisted by some of the children. Normally there is no shortage of volunteers eager to particvipate in the project.

Aquarium

In the Summer term a group of keen boys joined S.J.H. in setting up a two-foot tropical aquarium. Much was learnedabout the complex matter of maintaining tropical fish in their own mini-environment and such exotic fish as Kribensis, Three-spotGourami, Siamese Fighting Fish and Neon Tetra are now hapily installed for all to see and enjoy. The theraputic effect of these wonderfully coloured fish is evident in the venings when one can see a few boys and girls at any one time mesmerized by these quiet, inoffensive creatures.
