Figure 1.--

Prep schools are of course private fee-paying schools. The fees, especially for boarding, are quite expensive. This limits the students generally to the affluent or at least families in comfortable cirumstances. Most schools offer scholarships. The scholarships offered greatly from school to school. The scholarships we have noted were all academically competitive scholarships.

The Headmaster Writes ...

For the first time in the School's history the Governors have set up a special fund to finance scholarships offered for open competition every year to boys underv10. Boys already in the School were of course eligible for these reqards if in the right age group. The Scholarship exam attracted considerable interest and fidteen boys sat the exam towards the end of March. As a result Jason Bush and Rupert Eckhardt were each awarded a Scholarship of £250 per year. James Russel, although over the age to sit the exam, won the top award of £400 on his outstanding academic showing since he has been at Bramcote.
