The collar badges identify this group as a Luftwaffe unit. We note both officers as well as what looks like a group of new recruits. I do not recognize the badges on the officer's caps. They di not look like regular Luftwaffe badges. Many of them, but not all seem quite young. We are not sure what they are doing, but would guess that they are ground personnel, perhaps responsible for maintenance. The dog might mean that they were guards, but we don't see any weapons. Note the dog has a whip in its mouth. It's not clear to me whatthe whip was far. This seems rather sinister. They might be on outside a Luftwaffe facility, but I'm not sure it is an air base. Perhaps it is a supply depot. It's not clear to me why a whip would be needed at a supply depot. We also do not know who the boy is. We would guess he has some assoiiation with the soldiers here. Perhaps his father is stationed here. I don't think he would have been included in the photograph if this was not the case. He seems to be a German boy, suggesting that the photograph was tken within the Reich. There are more children behind the soldiers. The photograph is undated, but we would guess was taken during the War, perhaps 1941-43. The only informastion on the bck is a "PHOTO-SOMMER" stamp. We are not sure where in Germany Photo Sommer was located.
