Fashion Magazine

This sailor outfit was illustrated in a fashion article in a French Canadian magazine or perhaps even a Quebec newspaper. We have only a small image with some clipped French text. We think the article may be about styles influence by Fremch fashion because the title was "La mode illustre". This was the name of an important French fashion magazine. The kneepants with short socks seems mre French than Canadian. This is interesting because we wonder about cultural contacts between Quebec and France in the early 20th century. There seems to have been little family contact, but we are not sure about literary and cultural contacts.

The caption read, "Costme marin pour petit garçon de 5 ċ 12 ans, Cullote courte et droite en cheviotte bleu-marin, blouse en flanelle, col marin en toile bleu." That would translate as "Sailor outfit for a little boy of 5-12 yeas of age, kneepants and [droite?] en navy blue cheviot, blouse in flannel, sailor collar, in blue [toile?]. Cheviot was a wool material. Note the use of "cullote courte" to describe kneepants.
