We have found some items that are not dated, but seem likely to be from the 1950s. We have fould a Copley's knitting patten for sun-suits. Copley's was a well known companying selling knitting patterns. There are both boys' and girls' styles for younger children (No. 3074). The two gender style were rather similar. Sunsuits could be worn by younger children for play or paddling at the beach. In this case the sunsuits seem to styles worn in the late-40s and early-50s. They were rather like swimsuits for younger children and as was still common in the early 50s were done in wool. It seems strange today making beachwear out oif wool, but it was standard throuh the early-50s. The company suggested 3-ply Eccelsior Wool. The two different styles were done in sizes 2-3 and 6-7 years. We are not entirely sure what 4-5 year olds did. Apparently mothers had to decide if they wanted a small size or a lrger size they could grow into.
