French Mail Order Catalogs with Boys Clothings: 1936 Sailor Suits

Figure 3.--These sailor suits were advertised in 1936 for boys as old as 12 in both short and long pants styles, some included a pair of both shorts and longs.

French boys still wore sailor suits in 1936. We nore one store offering quite a range of different styles. We do not, know, however the name of the store. The heading reads, "Vétements pour garçonnets et jeunes gens", meaningclothing for little boys and young gents". While there are different styles, most approximate actual uniforms. One suit had none of the normal sailorv detailing. That suit was available in both shorts and longs. They were both white and blue suits. They were available in both short and long pants suits. There were also different cap styles. Pne suit came with both short and long pants. We are not sure yet what sizes they were done in. We have only limited information on the conventions for wearing sailor suits.
