This page is headed with "Brüderchen/Schwesterchen" meaning Little Brother/Littlev Sister. We see offerings for younger children in coordinated brother sister styles. This seems to have been popular fashion convention in Germany. We note this entire page in a 1950s catalog devoted to brother-sister outfits. The age range for these coordinted styles is not indicated, but was probably for children 2-7 years old, meaning they were worn into the early primary years. It is possiblev the age sizesv could be different, The outfits include folk outfits, junior Eton styling, tunics, and bibfront overalls. There is some ad copy for the different outfits.
Here we see a green traditional tracht outfit done in a boy's suit style rther than a girl' dirdrl. The ad copy read, "Schwesterchen trágt zum Trachtenjáckchen einen hübschen Rock mit roten Tràgern." That meant Little sister wears a pretty skirt with red straps with her traditional jacket.
Here the boy is seen in a matching jackeet, but with knicker-style pants. The ad copy reads, "Brüderchen tràgt einen zünftigen Seppelanzug mit Bündchenhose und Trachtenjàckchen." This meant, Little brother wears a proper Seppel suit with cuffed trousers and a traditional jacket. We are not sure what Seppel meant.
Here we see matching junior Eton jackets with thev girl wearing a skirt and the boy wearing short pants. There is no mentiion of the Eton styling in thev ad copy. It read, "Schwesterchen trágt ein hübsches Kostüm mit kragenloser Jacke und Faltenröckchen. Das Brüderchen die gleiche Jacke mit kurzem Höschen." This meant Little sister wears a pretty costume with a collarless jacket and pleated skirt. The little brother wears the same jacket with short pants. Brother-sister Eton suits is something we do not see in America where this was a popular style.
Here is an identical item for boys and girls--a tunic outfit with Russian styling. Only the pants are different. The ad copy read, "Für unsere ganz Kleinen ein hübscher Russenkittel, Bunter Bordenbesatz oder Stickerel und Höschen für Knaben und Màdchen." This meant For our very little ones a pretty Russian smock, colorful border trim or stickers and underpants for boys and girls.
Here are identical red bib-front overalls for boys and girls. It was suggested as playwear. The ad copy read, "Die beliebten und praktischen langen Spielhosen für Brüderchen und Schwesterchen. Dazu eine Hemdbluse." That meant The popular and practical long play pants for little brothers and sisters. Plus a shirt blouse.
