Internet Companies: Moody Tiger (2020s)

leggings
Figure 1.--

We notice a wide range of companies selling clothes over the internet. The internet can erase borders, so it is not always obvious in which the countries are located. This is possible because the pan-European styles that developed in the late-20th century have now become world-wide styles. It is no longer possible to tell where children are from based on how they are dressed. There ae some distincive country styles, but they are becoming fewer and fewer. One company we notice is Moody Tiger based in China. We first see the in the early-2020s. We note in a company history that the company dates to London taylor shop (1910). We are not sure what that is all about. They are an internet seller specializing in active wear, but have opened brick and mortar stores. They have several stores in Hong Kong, but have begun opening stores in the West, including the United States. Like many Asian-based clohing companies, Moody Tiger often uses European models. Even in the case of companies mrketing to Asin conumers. We first notced this in Japan. The European models give a kind of cachet of cutting-edge style. A reader writes, "The boy is modeling an outfit from Moody Tiger, which is headquartered in Hong Kong but sells items worldwide. They use models of different nationalities. I don't know if this image was taken in the U.S. but it is representative of what some kids have been wearing. The layering of shorts over compression tights or leggings in boys of all ages has enjoyed some measure of popularity in the U.S. since the early 2010s to the present. It is likely to be commonplace in the Far East. The items are a little pricey but may be targeted to more affluent customers." We notice one style which as more Asian (at least Japan and Korea) than Western--leggings. In his case tights wihout feet. They were done for boys and girls. This is something you rrely see in America. A reader tellsus that he has begun to see it. The company describes the combination of shortsanf lggings as, "These innovative pants feature a stylish faux two-piece design, combining a durable outer short with a supportive inner tight for maximum versatility. The water-repellent outer layer keeps him dry while blocking wind and moisture, and the upgraded Brizi® Fleece technology ensures warmth without restricting movement. Thoughtful details like a no-dig waistband, reflective accents for nighttime safety, and convenient zip pockets make these joggers perfect for any adventure. Ideal for active play, they provide comfort and protection every step of the way!"
