Each of the outfits are nicely illustrated on this page from the 1927-28 Wards' winter catalog. The only common thread is the age group, 3-8 years of age. These little boy outfits are presented in several group illustrations. This is often done on catalog pages to show a relationship with the various garments. This usually is done to show garments with similar cuts, but done with differ msterials or slightly different styles. The page has a heading, "Today’s Boy Styles—Very Serviceable 'Too". There is no other text describing the garments here as a group. There is a detailed decription of each garment. Maby of the outfits are Oliver Twist suits which is why you see tassles. Most seem to be button-on outfits, many vwithb self-belts.
This Jack Tar (traditional sailor suit came with boy short and long pants. The shorts could be worn with some of the other waists shown on the Ward's page. The Wards' adcopy read, "Sailor ahoy! Every little fellow wants to wear this Suit, designed just like Jack Tar’s, the defender of our flag on the seas. Has an extra pair of short pants that can be worn with any waist. Both pairs are well made and are fully lined. Entire outfit is All Wool navy blue serge of a very good quality.
