American Advertisements: Skirted Garments (1928)

Figure 1.--Here we see light, summer frocks for uoingr girls in 929s. These were patterns offered for home sewers. They were offered in 'Needlecraft Magaxine'. Thedesihner was Janet Stanton.

The convention of younger boys wearing skirted garments had for the most part passed with few exceptions by the 1920s. We see boys wearing tunic suits in the 1910s, but these outfits largely disappeared in the very early-1920s. Girls mostly wore dresses with few options. Girls also wore blouses and skirts, but dresses were much more common. Hem lines became quite short by the end of the decade fo younger girls. Pants were not yet worn to any extent by girls. For school gym we see girls wearing middly blouses and bloomers. A rare departure from dresses.
