This CDV portrait shows an undentified Danish girl. She wears an early girls' sailor outfit. Sailor oufits for boys appeaed in the 1840s. They were first used by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert for the princes. We begin to see sailor outfits for girls in the late-60s or early-70s. The CDV here is undated, but would have been taken around 1870. This is conformed by the pointed corners of he mount. She wears a fashionanle sailor outfit. The sailor syyling is all on the jacket. Sge seems to be wearing a dress underneath, but we can only see the dskrt. In addition to the hat we see, a striped collar,ad stripe detailin on the jacket, and double-breasted styling. Only the skirt has no sailor detaling. She has a Jack Tar sailor hat and pantalettes. The studio was H.N. Gottlieb in Nestved, located in the southern part of the island of Zealand in Denmark. Zealand is an island betwwen the Danish Peninsul and Sweden.
